This year 2009, will always be remembered for the period in US history where we experienced major highs and lows.  It was the year where the whole country was electrified by the swearing in of the 44th President of the United State, Barack Obama, a black man.  Most of us never thought that we would have lived to experience such an event.  With his swearing-in, we kept hope alive, we began to believe in ourselves that Yes We Can.  The whole world took notice.  The whole world celebrated.  And yes, we celebrated at Sesame Flyers too.

This year we experienced the near collapse of the global economy via the deterioration of world financial system.  Regardless of the cause, the effects were definitely felt at Sesame Flyers and within our community.  Most of our programs survived and some were reduced.  Our organization, however, remains resilient as we push ahead with our mission 'LOVE A KID TODAY AND EVERYDAY'.  Our members, supporters and staff are not in the least bit deterred by the unfavorable economic situation.  They seem to rise and continue making our organization a Beacon in the Brooklyn community.  That determination is embedded in all of us from those who have been with us from since its interception and continue to dedicate their time and effort for our children.

I sincerely thank all those from within and without for their continued contribution to the successes of Sesame Flyers International.  I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate all our honorees and to commend them for their significant contributions.  As 2009 draws to a close, I pray that the New Year brings peace, prosperity and good health to our Board, our Members, Staff, Sponsors, Supporters, Well wishers and all those who continue to make it possible for us to do what we do and to realize our mission.
