Sesame Flyers Center For Family Support:
Offering Hope, Healing
Sesame
Flyers International, Inc.’s Winthrop Beacon’s Center for Family
Support is sending out a reminder about the variety of family and
individual support services aimed at enhancing quality of life they
offer.
Some of the services include domestic violence counseling, grief
counseling, and referral for mental health services.
In addition to the primary services offered by the SFI Center for
Family Support, the Light House at the Winthrop Beacon provides
programs such as afterschool, medical enrollment, GED classes,
homework assistance, computer training, young adult educational
workshops, job skills building, and immigration referrals.
Families are encouraged to participate in these programs if they are
in need of support. For more information, please contact

Executive
Director's Message
Dear
Friend,
This February as we celebrate Black History Month, we are reminded
of how important it is for us to continue honoring Black and
Caribbean culture. For the past three decades, Sesame Flyers’
year-long programs have been aimed at preserving our traditions and
values and we are pledged to serving the Brooklyn community for
another year!
Currently we serve over 5,000 families—whether it’s tutoring young
students, providing safe and nurturing spaces for children to play
during the summer, organizing youth led community activities, job
readiness programs, providing case management and counseling for
families in crisis, giving adult learners access to GED programs and
computer technology, or celebrating the rich traditions of the
Caribbean Diaspora, there are few aspects of community life that
Sesame Flyers does not touch.
The highlight of this month’s newsletter is the release of our 2017
scholarship applications! Awardees will be honored at the 8th Annual
Scholarship & Awards Gala in May. With the high demand, students are
encouraged to apply early.
We have been busy and have done a lot of great work, yet the demand
for services has been steadfast. While we want to do more, we can’t
do it without your support. So I am asking that you please consider
donating today. Thank you in advance for your support and dedication
to Sesame Flyers International and best wishes to you and your
families in the year ahead!
Sincerely,
Curtis Nelson
