Summer at Sesame Flyers International.

From sun up to sun down and into the night, Sesame Flyers International has you covered.

Begin the day with Morning Aerobics at Paerdegat Park with Coach Matthew Monday through Friday 6:30am – 8:00am. Meet the early risers who move their muscles and tone their bodies to a Soca beat.
Summer Camps get started after Independence Day at our Winthrop Beacon, Bildersee Beacon, and SONYC Program at IS 211, and are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm. Our campers are set to have fun with arts and crafts, dance, basketball, cook outs, and Theme Fridays.

SYEP participants are poised to gain valuable work experience with placements at several businesses in the community.

SYEP participant cohort SFI Healthy Hearts, Nourished Bodies is having a summer canned food drive. Please be sure to support their community service with your donation of whole grains and low sodium, low sugar, canned food. Donations are accepted at the Winthrop Campus, 905 Winthrop Street.

There will be outdoor Movie Nights with our partners, caribBEING, Ditmas Park Basketball Classic, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams, and Assemblyman N. Nick Perry. Be sure to take time to keep up with the schedule.

Remember to come to the Cultural Center on Church Avenue for the Adult and Kiddie Mas Showroom for presentations of La Vie. Can’t make it to the showroom ? That’s OK, you can check out the costumes online at sesamecarnival.com .

After work, come through to the Cultural Center for the Wednesday night designer showcase and lime a little before you make your final choice on a costume.

However you connect to Sesame Flyers this summer, be sure to bring a smile and tell a friend, we look forward to seeing you on the road!

News 12 - Best Of Brooklyn

A nonprofit group in Brooklyn has been providing a safe and encouraging place for kids for decades.

With a focus on enriching the lives of kids in the community, Sesame Flyers says it helps kids by giving them a better understanding of their culture.

The group works with kids to help boost their self-esteem and provide insight into their Caribbean heritage.

The group has won over 11 awards for their participation during the annual West Indian Labor Day parade.

Sesame Flyers hopes to raise between $75,000 and $150,000 during this year's parade so they can continue to help inspire children.

Sesame Flyers International Annual Family Sports Day

Sesame Flyers Sports Day June 3rd 2017 was an entertaining event that allowed both kids and adults in our community to participate and have a wonderful time. It was an encouraging atmosphere ensuring that both adults and kids alike feel comfortable. Everyone participated in not only the contemporary races/activities but also in the always fun filled three legged races, egg and spoon races etc.

At the end of it all, winners gathered at the podium for trophy distribution…the smiles were endless as Moms, Dads and SFI photographer documented each individuals “acceptance”... The day was a resounding success. The Sesame Flyers International Annual Sports Day provides ample opportunity for healthy excitement, joy and play...I will conclude with the famous saying, “Winners win, winners lose, but winners play”

NYC Youth Guide To Summer Fun

Another sizzling summer in New York City is here, and the Department of Youth and Community Development is pleased to present the 2017 New York City Youth Guide to Summer Fun.

Our great city has something for everyone: from the High Line to High Bridge, from Bryant Park to Prospect Park, from Summer on the Hudson to Shakespeare in the Park. Whether your summer plans include catching a breeze on City Island, grabbing a bite at one of the City’s greenmarkets, taking in a movie under the stars, or cooling down with a good book at your local library, you can find plenty of free and low-cost events in this handy guide.

DYCD would like to thank the City agencies, museums, youth groups, libraries, arts organizations and cultural institutions that play a role in compiling this information each year. On behalf of the entire staff of DYCD, I wish you a memorable summer of fun.
