Shana Logan

loganMy name is Shanah Logan. I’m a rising junior at Howard University. I am a Political Science major and undecided minor. I am the eldest of two. Currently I stand as the newest member of the Howard University Pre-Law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. Like any other organization I was able to gain a brotherhood while gaining the role of leadership and providing service. I was nervous at first to start this journey but I took each day a step at a time. It may have been a struggle for me to obtain the position I am at now but it was all worth it at the end.

Attending Howard University was a big step for me. It has always been a dream of mine to attend an Historically Black College or University, HBCU, just like my mother. She has guided me in the right direction and never since let me down. She is my super woman and idol. There is nothing I do that isn’t for my mother and little brother.

Ever since my journey at Howard University I have been blessed with blessings on top of blessings. From achieving a high GPA which allowed me to be on the Dean’s, list to becoming a member of a Fraternity. It all had its ups and downs but eventually I got through it. With the help of my loving mother, Luzett Logan, family and friends everything was accomplished with satisfaction. In addition, I am in the Honors Department for my major which too has been a dream of mine. I was accepted into the program at the end of my freshman year and it has been the second best decision I’ve made. The networking gained from this program is amazing. It encourages me to keep moving forward and never give up on your dreams.

To top it off, I also serve as a scholarship recipient for my third year in a row. It has been a pleasure to gain such acknowledgment and aid towards my College career. Everyone that knows me knows how much I love the Sesame Flyers Family.  Sesame Flyers International has definitely been a big part of my life. Ever since the age of four I have been playing mas with them and gain more insight into my culture. It’s not solely about the turn up but the culture that comes behind it as well. They have taught me to never give up on my dreams even if it seems unrealistic. I hope I can help those in need just as much as Sesame Flyers International has been a support to me.

Some day when I finish my college career and open up my own Law Firm, I am opening up my own orphanage. This has been my goal ever since I got the opportunity to engage with children who were less fortunate than I was and made a change in their life. To hear someone appreciate my gratitude really put a smile on my face and made me appreciate things in life more.

My final message will be: Never underestimate the power you have even if things aren’t working in your favor. There are reasons why you are being challenged to that extent and in the long run it will be evident. There is no job you can’t do because there is no such word as can’t.
